Learning to code on iOS - swift vs Objective C dilemna -

i have finished year of university , learnt how write nice applications c++, opengl , qt.

i start learning objective c , cocoa. seemed optimal develop ios & mac apps since objective c was, c++, variant of c, cocoa allow me make nice uis , continue using opengl knowledge 3d graphics.

however, apple has announced many things changing. importantly, have announced there new language called "swift", , replacing (from understand) opengl "metal"

my question is, taking account lack of books/comprehensive tutorials (i had found great 1 objective c , cocoa).
@ stage, should wait release of xcode6 , ios8 in fall, along hope new books , tutorials on learning new language , else in meantime avoid learning defunct language, or should learn objective c anyway , learn swift when comes out (and these new things metal etc).

is worth deepening opengl understanding in light of new stuff being announced?

i advise learning swift. proving popular, , there tutorials out already, such 1 (http://ios-blog.co.uk/tutorials/developing-ios-apps-using-swift-part-1/). learning objective-c useful couple months, apple push swift main language. can tutorial book apple on ibooks store free. also, if registered developer, can xcode 6 , ios 8 now.
