let's consider single-pixel image gaussian noise applied. its's histogram single bar of height 1. application of gaussian noise move bar left or right. if we'll perform many experiments given image , given distribution parameters we'll in average bar moves on distance equals mean of distribution.

the effect of application of noise larger image must similar - if histogram has anomalies, move towards left or right m points, m distribution mean, , effect of anomaly less sharp on original image.
