windows installer - Visual Studio 2017 Lock Up: can't start, uninstall, or reinstall -


i seem have gotten visual studio 2017 installation impossible state.

it started when wanted create setup project make installation of solution easier. found this add on visual studio 2017 , downloaded , ran vsix file. installation seemed run fine, though had tell close visual studio since still had running in background, until reached end @ point hung long time. hour later decided cancel installation. when tried go visual studio, presented following dialog

"the setup installation of visual studio not complete. please run visual studio installer again correct issue."

i decided try , re-run vsix file, time patient , wait finish. however, time told couldn't run because installed.

"this extension installed applicable products."

so. think, i'll uninstall visual studio 2017 , reinstall scratch.

nope. uninstaller hangs on 0% , when go close window...

"it looks you're installing or modifying product right now. please wait until other operations finished , try again."

and finally. thought. if run installer again, , install visual studio 2017 on top of itself. should fine, , should reset state of application normal. no. run installer, , nothing. see extraction window progress bar, disappears. can see bootstrapper process in task manager, there no window. nothing happens.

so. question is, there way me either reset state of visual studio can used again, or, alternatively, there way me purge machine of application without use of uninstaller?
