but need have 1 field(datepicker), when user selects show date in user friendly format, in code pass computer friendly date. thinking of hiding datepicker, how user make selection then? options limited demo linked?

another option conversion behind scenes, trying avoid it.

you can datepicker's current date via api call getdate(). give selected date in date format can format way want (computer friendly date).
